The Grand Forks City Council is being asked to approve an ordinance banning discrimination against gays and lesbians.  Several residents urged the council to consider the anti-discrimination policy in light of rejection of a similar bill by the North Dakota Senate.   The city was on record urging the lawmakers to adopt the measure.   Council president hal gershman says he looks forward to the council taking some action.  Councilman Doug Christensen says before members take a stand they should direct staff to draft the ordinance and determine how it would be implemented.
