Grand forks is one step closer to passing an amendment to the city code banning employment discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. the city’s finance committee approved the move with little debate last night. City attorney howard swanson says he drafted the amendment after reviewing similar laws of cities in other states. Sexual orientation would include actual or perceived homosexuality or bisexuality. Committee chair dana sande says iit speaks to an interesting state in our society when we have to write this down.
The amendment will go to the full city council on Monday night.
