Some mixed news on the crime front for Grand Forks in 2012.   According to a year-end report Grand Forks saw violent crimes like murder…rape… robbery…and aggravated assaults jump 17-percent.  On the flip side property crimes decreased eight-percent last year.  Overall the GFPD responded to 44-thousand-860 calls for service – up 12-percent compared to three years ago.  P-D Lt-Dwight Love says Grand Forks remains a safe place to live with overall crime down five-percent from year ago.   He says compared to the national standards for crimes on a per capita basis Grand Forks is way down the list.
