A grand forks committee did not close the door on the idea of a casino run by the turtle mountain band. The city’s finance committee listened to a pitch by tribal leaders last night who want to open a gaming entertainment complex in grand forks. The casino plan was first proposed back in 2005. councilman doug Christensen noted the city adopted a resolution at that time saying they were interested in working with the tribe -- and that resolution was never rescinded. Tribal chair Richard mccloud says a lot has changed over the years including the mood about gambling.
Council president hal gershman says for the idea to move forward it will need public support.
the full council will talk about the issue next week.
