A husband and wife charged with robbing a Grand Forks bank are being held without bond. 19-year old Johnny Patrom and 18-year old Amanda Patrom made initial appearances in Grand Forks District Court Monday afternoon. Johnny Patrom faces five charges including armed robbery punishable by up to ten years in jail. Amanda Patrom is accused of being an accomplice and theft of property. During the appearance Assistant States Attorney Carmell Mattison asked the court not to set bail calling both suspects a flight risk. Prosecutors say the pair tried to cross the North Dakota border into Canada to escape charges in Missouri. Mattison says Johnny Patrom was planning to travel to Washingtonto swim across the river into Canada. Both suspects were arrested shortly after the Bank Forward Branch at 13-01 Ralph Englestad Arena Drive was robbed Friday morning. Judge Karen Braaten set a preliminary hearing for August 22nd.
