The city of Grand Forks in coordination with Grand Forks County has signed an emergency flood declaration. The move is the first step to access state and federal resources to aid in any flood fight this Spring. Governor Jack Dalrymple requested the move. The city’s flood protection system is good to a crest of 57 feet. The best guess crest from the National Weather Service is around 46 feet. According to the flood outlook issued by the NWS in March there is a five-percent chance the river could exceed 53 feet. The outlook will be revised once snowmelt begins to enter the drainage system.
