Officials say it involves a caller telling customers they are behind on their bill and without payment face having their power turned off. The caller attempts to gain personal information from the customer and gives the appearance that they are associated with Minnesota power. Water and light boss dan boyce says the department never contacts customers via the phone. according to boyce water and light is not part of Minnesota power. In addition minnesota’s cold weather rule prevents cutting off service between October and april for those who call to set up a payment plan.
