East Grand Forks Mayor Lynn Stauss says he plans to have a discussion with the Minnesota DNR about expanding the Red River State Recreational area. Stauss says the popularity of the park is growing and more campsites are needed to meet the demand. The mayor says there's room to add another two dozen sites. He says the city has been forced to turn visitors away on five occasions this summer because they were sold out amd attendance has nearly doubled this summer. On a related not the mayor says he will also open a dialogue with the D-N-R about incorporating a joint pool project into the rec area.
