Grand Forks police have identified a deputy marshal found dead in his car on Wednesday. 46-year old Robert Wood was in a government owned vehicle when police discovered his body shortly after eleven a-m. The car was parked in a lot near Belmont Road and the entrance to Lincoln Park. Police Chief John Packett says he can’t release a preliminary cause of death but the public is not in danger. An autopsy has been ordered. Packett says he would expect the final report to show no foul play. Wood was a 26 year veteran of the U-S Marshals Service –including 18 years in Grand Forks.
