North Dakota’s 2012 deer season opens today (fri). This year game and fish limited the number of licenses to just over 65-thousand – down more than 44-thousand from last year. It’s the lowest number since 1988. Outreach Biologist Marty Egeland says hunters will see less deer out there…but there will also be less competition.
The deer success rate in 2011 was just 52-percent. That’s the lowest on record and well below the 70 to 75 percent average. The North Dakota deer-gun season opens at noon.
