A lawsuit has been filed against Grand Forks County claiming the assets of two seniors under the guardianship of a former public administrator were mismanaged. Attorney Tim Lamb says Faith Krueger and Paul Veum lost hundreds of thousand of dollars. In the lawsuit Lamb claims county employee Barb Zavala was serving as legal guardian while both clients at the time were medically incapacitated. Lamb called the action “horrendous” urging other potential victims to come forward. Zavala resigned from her county position earlier this year. Lamb said he could not comment whether a criminal investigation is underway. Attorney Howard Swanson is representing the county in the case. A response has been filed with the court.
