Another Winter Storm

Another Winter Storm

Apr 14, 2013 at 7:56 am

.A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE MOVE SLOWLY ACROSS THE NORTHERN PLAINS TODAY INTO MONDAY...BRINGING SIGNIFICANT SNOW
TO THE REGION. SNOW WILL SLOWLY MOVE FROM FAR SOUTHEASTERN NORTH DAKOTA NORTHEASTWARD INTO THE SHEYENNE RIVER VALLEY AND SOUTHERN
RED RIVER VALLEY BY MID DAY...AND FURTHER NORTH AND EASTWARD DURING THE AFTERNOON. THERE WILL BE A SHARP TRANSITION FROM NOT MUCH PRECIPITATION TO HEAVY SNOW...SO CONDITIONS COULD DETERIORATE QUICKLY. EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO
20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH TODAY. WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE NORTH TONIGHT ALONG AND WEST OF THE VALLEY...WINDS AND FALLING SNOW WILL LEAD TO AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW AND SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED VISIBILITIES. BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE SHEYENNE RIVER VALLEY WITH NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS FURTHER EAST. WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS
OF 6 TO 11 INCHES ARE LIKELY...WITH THE HIGHEST TOTALS EXPECTED ACROSS EAST CENTRAL NORTH DAKOTA. THE SNOW WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH ON MONDAY AS THE SYSTEM BEGINS TO PULL AWAY.

Travel may be significantly impacted by this storm, continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
