Amtrak passengers in grand forks…devils lake…and rugby are riding the road rather than the rails again this week. The westbound empire builder is being detoured between fargo and minot due to increased freight traffic on the b-n-s-f tracks. amtrak calls the detour temporary and they hope to resume the normal route a-s-a-p. amtrak’s marc magliari says the two sides have held meetings to try and resolve the issue. magliari says right now it comes down to b-n-s-f traffic flow and the fact they own the tracks.
passengers at the three stations are being bused to minot to catch train seven-27.
