Thursday’s early blast of Winter set a maximum record snowfall in Grand Forks. The Grand Forks Airport recorded two-point-seven inches while the NWS office received three-and-a-half inches. The previous record at the GFK was a trace set in 1952 while the NWS office had no snowfall record for the date. The snow was the equivalent of just over a-half inch of precipitation.
Badger won honors for the most snow with 14 inches……Middle River eight inches…Roseau picked up seven….Karlstad six…and Crookston measured a half foot.
Thursday was also a busy day for power crews…..in Fargo Xcel Energy saw about 65-hundred customers go dark. Otter Tail Power saw all or parts of 17 communities have outages because of heavy wet snow and or downed lines.
