Winter Storm (new)

Mar 4, 2013 at 11:06 am

...WINTER STORM TO AFFECT EASTERN NORTH DAKOTA INTO NORTHWEST AND
WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY MORNING...

.A SLOW MOVING STORM SYSTEM WITH AN UPPER LEVEL CENTER IN EASTERN
MONTANA AND A SURFACE LOW NEAR BISMARCK EARLY THIS MORNING WILL
DRIFT SOUTHEAST THROUGH TONIGHT. MOISTURE WILL CONTINUE TO WRAP
AROUND THE STORM SYSTEM GIVING SNOW TO MUCH OF NORTHERN AND
EASTERN NORTH DAKOTA THROUGH THE DAY INTO TONIGHT...WITH THE SNOW
GRADUALLY SPREADING EAST THROUGH NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA AS THE DAY
PROGRESSES.

DRY AIR IN THE LOW LEVELS FEEDING INTO THE AREA HAS
BEEN KEEPING THE SNOW FROM SPREADING AS FAR EAST AS THOUGHT INTO
MINNESOTA AND ALSO HAS BEEN KEEPING THE SNOWFALL LIGHTER THAN
EXPECTED. BUT DURING THE DAY MONDAY SNOWFALL WILL INCREASE AND BY
EARLY TUESDAY MORNING...SNOWFALL TOTALS FROM THIS EVENT WILL BE
AROUND 10 INCHES IN THE DEVILS LAKE REGION. ELSEWHERE DUE TO A
LATER START TO THE SNOW AND LESS SNOW SUNDAY NIGHT..STORM SNOW
TOTALS WILL BE LESS WITH 4 TO 7 INCHES EXPECTED IN FAR
SOUTHEASTERN NORTH DAKOTA INTO WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA WITH 5 TO 8
INCHES OVER THE NORTHERN RED RIVER VALLEY INTO NORTHWESTERN
MINNESOTA.

WINDS WILL BE FROM THE SOUTH SOUTHEAST IN THE 10 TO
25 MPH RANGE TODAY TURNING TO THE NORTH LATER TONIGHT INTO
TUESDAY. WIND GUSTS TO 30 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE IN EASTERN NORTH
DAKOTA LATE TONIGHT AND TUESDAY CAUSING REDUCED VISIBILITY IN
BLOWING SNOW.
