ND Jobs

Employment expanded in North Dakota on a year-to-year basis in December according to job service officials. Statewide 13-thousand-900 more jobs were added to the rolls – a three-point-four percent gain. The Grand Forks metro area gained 200 jobs but that pales in comparison to the 28-hundred jobs in Bismarck and 42-hundred additional jobs in the Fargo area. Micheel Ziesch of job service says any gain is positive but it illustrates that the Grand Forks market is a little softer. Job gains were noted in the wholesale trade sector as well as finance… education… health…and hospitality industry. Grand Forks lost jobs in retail trade…transportation…government...and in manufacturing. The local job office currently has over 16-hundred openings on the books. The Grand Forks MSA includes Polk County in Minnesota.
