GF County Crime
Grand Forks County remains a safe place to live according to 2012 crime stats compiled by the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Department. Most major crime categories were down last year – including violent crimes. Upticks were noted in drug/narcotic arrests….cases of fraud…and forcible sex offenses. Sheriff Bob Rost says part of the bump comes as a result of being more proactive rather than reactive.
The department handled one-thousand-772 calls for service in 2012. In addition the department transported nearly 700 prisoners and served nearly 87-hundred papers while collecting 133-thousand in fees.
